The Nova Scotia Cruise was Fun for All!
Residents and friends of Sherburne Commons enjoyed a wonderful voyage! Their days were filled with fantastic food and amazing company. They got plenty of exercise walking around Portland, Acadia National Park, St. John, and Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia. With 13 floors on the ship, they barely had enough time to explore all of the vessel's fabulous activities and amenities. Whether knitting, lazing by the pool, having a spa treatment, trying their luck at the slots, or watching an Argentine Tango; they had enough laughs and relaxation to last all winter long. Getting to know each other better was perhaps the best part of their voyage!

Raised gardens a pleasure for residents
In 2009, Sherburne Commons added "raised garden beds" in the Resident Community Garden. "The raised beds are easier to maintain and encourage the residents that are passionate about gardening to continue enjoying their hobby," states Meris Keating, Life Enhancement Director at Sherburne Commons. Gardens range from flowers, strawberries, potatoes, onions and even pumpkins. In fact, resident Martha Butler, has won largest pumpkin at the County Fair!
The residents are proud of their harvests and love to share their bounty with friends.
Chef Andrew Trattel utilizes fresh herbs and vegetables in his renowned recipes served at Sherburne Commons.
Painting a favorite pastime at Sherburne
Estelle, a resident at Sherburne Commons, is seen here with a painting she did, from memory, of Main Street Nantucket in the 1950's. She previously was a hairdresser and a chef, and currently remains quite active at Sherburne Commons. Meris Keating, Life Enhancement Director, provides a myriad of activities for residents.
